withdrawals

Thursday, December 18

I'm going to into Facebook withdrawals. I didn't bring my laptop to Cleveland, and we don't have internet in our hotel room. The computer here in the business center blocks Facebook.com

Will someone please comment here or e-mail me to say hi?

This is my third day with NO VOICE...how am I supposed to catch up with dear old friends? I feel like a prisoner in my own body, unable to express myself or be heard. It's scary being in public at museums or in the icy downtown streets with my children...they can't hear me call their names...and the louder I try to yell, the less sound comes out of my squeaky voice box. ::sigh::

I take my voice for granted. I think Andy is enjoying the sort-of silence when he's driving the car. Less back-seat driving going on. Don't worry, I found a way to squeeze his arm when it's time to hit the brakes, and pointing the fingers comes in handy when it's time to turn. (I know, I'm terrible.)

So not having a voice OR Facebook (which I really do use to communicate with people...a lot!) is making me very very lonely. I could call up a Cleveland friend, but then what? squeak squeak.

awww - I've been sending good thoughts your way, knowing that you're up north and around folks whom you haven't seen for a while and miss. Sorry that you've lost your voice and you feel disconnected. It's nice when we choose to have quiet alone time, but when it's forced, it's much much harder to deal with. Miss you and looking forward to seeing you this weekend, hopefully! Have fun!

I'm sorry you lost your voice and that you can't catch-up with your friends because of that. I completely understand the back seat driving thing. Yesterday, I was sort of making a U-turn and Hope cringed and said, "your going to hit the curb." A taste of my own medicine, I guess...at least I know where she gets it ;) I miss you all and can't wait till everyone is here on Thursday.

HI, AUTTIE!!!! :-)

Sorry I haven't commented in a while. I keep forgetting to check people's blogs...relied on Blogarithm (which is now the pits) far too much. I went back and read lots and commented a few times.

Love you!

Been wondering about you.
I guess you stayed busy.

You are welcome to bring the kids by to our messy house.

If I don;t talk to ya, have a great safe trip back.

that's terrible!! knock-on-wood, I have never lost my voice...it must be painful to have developed a new communication approach for back seat driving. I can't imagine. though I have always wanted ot use sign language, I doubt that would keep the kids form darting off...how to get their attention?? clapping, or a whistle maybe? :) hope it comes back to you in short order!

Congrats on another semester done! Hope your voicebox gets better. It is SO annoying when you need to say something and all that comes out is like you said "squeak, squeak". But hey, it's a good excuse to go put on a cd, grab a cup of hot cocoa, and RELAX!
